Membership

HCLT bylaws call for membership participation in governance and ascribe meaningful decision-making authority to members. In 2023 HCLT became a membership organization and held its first membership meeting. The meeting highlighted how the CLT movement began in Albany, GA during the Civil Rights movement, with a viewing of the film Arc of Justice. We heard from Dr. Jeffrey Lowe from Texas Southern University that was a driving force in the development of the HCLT and HCLT’s founding Board Chair Dr. Assata Richards.

We will continue to develop our membership structure to ensure that the voice of those we serve drive the growth and sustainability of the HCLT.

Our annual membership meeting is held in June of every year.

Currently the HCLT membership consists of all 200 plus homeowners. However, as we develop the membership, we will open it up to community members that believe in permanent affordability, community ownership and the HCLT mission.
